How far can I go on a single charge?

The range of an electric vehicle depends on a host of factors. One of them is battery capacity, which is to say the amount of energy the battery can store. We offer two different battery capacity options that you can choose from.

Other factors include such things as driving habits, speed, using a heater or AC, road gradients, and ambient temperature (how hot our cold it is outside). We road-test our vehicles on flat roads, at speeds between 60 and 70 kph, and under average İstanbul temperatures.

Under these conditions, drivers successfully achieve distances of 280 kms and 415 kms with 36 kWh- and 53 kWh-capacity batteries respectively.

Where can I recharge my car? How should I plan routes?

We offer an optional 220 V single-phase charging cable that lets you recharge your vehicle wherever there’s a mains outlet. Most of our customers do their recharging while they’re at home or at work. If a customer wants to have a single- or three-phase charging point installed somewhere, we will gladly recommend and refer them to a specialist electrician who can do the work.

For heavier-duty recharging, have a look at the recharging station map on our website.

All DMA vehicles are compatible with EU-standard Type 2 charging station specifications. DMA is also working in partnership with the makers and installers of third-party charging stations so that its customers can have access to the complete range of charging options. Our standard charging station is rated 380 V, 3-phase, 32 amps (22 kVa)/phase.

Route planning is easy using the “Estimated Range” and “Remaining Charge Time” values shown on the onboard multimedia screen. All you need do is be sure that there’s a recharging place somewhere within your estimated range.

How long does a recharge take?

Recharging times depend on AC current values and battery capacity. With three-phase current at 32 amps/phase, you can get a full charge in an hour and forty-five minutes; with single-phase current at 10 amps, charging time will vary between 16 and 22 hours.* Ambient temperature also affects recharging time. When it falls below 0 ºC for example, the batteries have to warm up before recharging can start and they will do so automatically. Generally speaking, the colder it is, the longer it will take to recharge.

How much does it cost to travel a hundred kilometers in a DMA electric vehicle?

If you take advantage of cheaper nighttime rates, the cost of traveling a hundred kilometers is just TRL 2.25, about USD 0.80 at current exchange rates. If you recharge during the daytime, the cost could be a little more than twice that. For exact rates and charges you should consult your electricity-provider’s schedules.

How long are batteries and powertrain systems guaranteed for?

DMA guarantees its batteries and powertrain systems for three years or 300,000 kilometers, whichever comes first.

What’s the difference between an all-electric and a “hybrid” vehicle?

All-electrics get all of their energy only from their batteries. Hybrid vehicles have a conventional internal combustion engine as well as a battery-driven electric motor. DMA only makes all-electric vehicles at this time.

How does a DMA all-electric car’s transmission work?

In the powertrain system used on DMA cars, the electric motor is connected directly to the wheels. When the motor revolves one way, the car moves forward and when it revolves the other way it moves backward.

What’s “regenerative braking”?

With regenerative braking, the excess kinetic energy caused by slowing a vehicle (such as when braking or going downhill) is used to recharge the battery. Under this system, the motor acts as an electrical generator. The regenerative braking system of a DMA all-electric vehicle has four levels of efficiency that you can select as you wish while driving.

What’s “intelligent battery management”?

DMA all-electrics are equipped with an intelligent battery management system that improves battery use efficiency and economy.

What’s “traction control”?

Traction control is a method of reducing the likelihood of skidding by preventing drive wheels from turning faster than they ought to under abnormal road surface conditions (wet, icy, dirt, etc) or during over-acceleration in a curve.

How does the DMA Traction Control System work?

The DMA Traction Control System is designed to increase driving safety by preventing skidding in curves and to get a vehicle moving and allow it to drive safely no matter what road surface conditions (muddy, wet, icy) may be. It also helps prolong the life of the drivetrain.
